As real estate developers, at DSTRCT.Berlin have a mission: we want to actively contribute to the traffic turnaround and implement the demands of the Federal Environment Agency. These state that car traffic must no longer take precedence over cycling and walking in the future – a demand that we are only too happy to support.
DSTRCT.Berlin is already living the mobility transition today
At DSTRCT.Berlin, we are setting a good example: our site already meets the mobility targets that Berlin has set itself for 2030. Around 80 percent of the people who work here already travel to us in an environmentally friendly way – in line with the future targets for commuting. In summer, bicycles dominate: they play a key role, accounting for over 40% of all journeys to work. Our 850 bicycle parking spaces and 50 showers in the bicycle garage make cycling even more attractive. And when it gets colder outside, many of our users conveniently switch to bus and train – then the proportion is over 60 percent. To make commuting even more pleasant, we have built a small bridge that shortens the route to the S-Bahn and thus saves unnecessary detours.
The first Germany-wide platinum certificate for good mobility
We were rewarded for our commitment this year: DSTRCT.Berlin was the first existing property in Germany to receive the full “Certified Good Mobility” platinum certificate. This award from the Good Mobility Council is the highest recognition for quality in the mobility of neighborhoods and buildings. The Council brings together extensive expertise in transport planning, design and architecture and we are proud that our approach has been convincing in every respect.
No dark corners, but feel-good places
The Council would particularly like to highlight our user-friendly design, such as the optimally accessible bicycle ramp and the showers and changing rooms, which meet the highest quality standards. In addition, our bicycle garage is anything but a gloomy place: Bright lighting and glass doors ensure safety and a pleasant ambience that motivates people to get on their bikes more often. The prime location and convenient public transport connections on Landsberger Allee do the rest to make it easier to switch from cars to environmentally friendly alternatives.
